How to care for common eye area issue

Our eyes work a lot from the moment we open them when we wake up in the morning to closing them when we sleep at night. They perform different activities from blinking, taking in information from around us and expressing your emotions etc. All these activities, genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle can cause premature ageing.

The eye area is the most sensitive part of our skin making it the first visible facial feature to show signs associated with premature ageing. The eyes area is prone to common skin issues including the following: puffiness, fine lines & wrinkles, hyperpigmentation (dark circles) and Crow’s Feet and more.   It is never too late or early to pay attention and give special care to the skin around your eyes.

Under-eye Puffiness

Puffiness of the eyes is one of the most common issues associated with the eye area. Most of us wake up in the morning with puffy eyes.

 A research study indicates that one of the causes of Puffy eyes is by consuming food high in salt. Excess salt in the body causes the body to retain extra water. The extra water can reside around the eyes area making it look puffy.

Treatment:

You can try home remedies to treat under-eye puffiness.  By placing a cold compress under your eye areas for about 10minutes.

An eye cream that contains green tea or caffeine can also be used to combat under-eye puffiness. Get skincare ingredient

Also, reduce salt intake, take enough water and get enough sleep.

Fine lines & wrinkles

A research study reveals that under eyes wrinkles starts manifesting in the early 30s if you spend a lot of time outdoor and if you do not use eye protection. The eyes are exposed to the harmful sun rays which break the collagen in your skin and then quicken wrinkles.

Under-eye wrinkles can also be caused by environmental pollution and smoking. Smoking exposes the eye area to high oxidative stress, which breaks the elastin and collagen. The skin gets weak and restricts blood circulation as the nutrient is unable to reach the blood vessels of the face.  Then skin around the eye develops wrinkles.

One of the home remedies to care for under eye wrinkles is the banana mask. Banana is rich in natural oils and vitamins. You need all the necessary nutrients to boost the health of your skin. You can make a smooth paste of one-fourth of the banana, apply it to your skin, and let it stay for 15-20 minutes. Use warm water to rinse off the mask and clean your face with a clean towel.

You can also use an eye cream that contains hyaluronic acid and retinol which stimulate collagen.

Hydration: drink plenty of water, it helps the skin and improves the appearance of wrinkles over time.

Hyperpigmentation (dark circles)

Dark circle around the eyes are another common eye area issues with everyone. Ageing is one of the common causes of dark circles. The skin under the eye gets thinner and exposes the blood vessels. The blood vessels are more visible which appears as dark circles. Lack of sleep, the strain on the eye and allergies can lead to dark circles.

To treat dark circles at home you can cut a thick slice of a cucumber and place it inside the freezer for about 40-50minutes. Take the cold cucumber from the freezer and place it on each eye for like 10minutes.  Try it twice a day.

Dark circles around the eye can also be reduced by getting enough sleep.
